On Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, Tezmar Caldwell entered a vehicle parked on Flagler Street in Morristown, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Morristown Police Chief Darnell Richardson said.

A juvenile who was sleeping, woke up and tried to get Caldwell out of the vehicle, authorities said. Caldwell struck the juvenile in the face, breaking his nose, authorities said.

Caldwell shouted threats at the juvenile as he left the scene before police arrived, authorities said. Surveillance footage identified Caldwell as the suspect and he was arrested three days later, authorities said.

In January, a jury convicted Caldwell of burglary, making a terroristic threat and assault, authorities said. He was acquitted of robbery, authorities said.
